Ruth Hudson

Ruth Hudson has more than eight years of experience in private legal practice, specialising in civil litigation. During her time in private legal practice, Ruth occupied the role of Practice Group Leader/ Manager. In addition to managing the professional and clerical staff, in this Ruth had carriage of numerous civil and human rights related matters.

Ruth Hudson holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Communications. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales as a Solicitor in 2010 and to the High Court of Australia in 2015.

Ruth has more than eight years of experience in private legal practice, specialising in civil litigation. Ruth also has experience within the not-for-profit sector, having been employed as the Principal Lawyer for the Australian National University, Post Graduate and Research Student’s Association before joining the National Workplace Investigations team.

During her years in legal practice, Ruth developed expertise in gathering and evaluating evidence required to advise clients on the merits of prospective legal actions and, where appropriate, to initiate and prosecute legal actions on their behalf. She is skilled in the gathering and analysis of evidence, interviewing of witnesses (including expert witnesses), drafting of submissions, reports and legal documents, as well as in the interpretation of legislation and other policy documents. Further, she is experienced in advising, supporting and representing clients in the context of settlement conferences, mediations and in proceedings before courts and tribunals.

Ruth also has a strong background in communications and in the coordination and delivery in of education and advocacy programs. Prior to commencing legal practise, Ruth was employed by the Law Society of New South Wales in the role of Program Coordinator, Specialist Accreditation Scheme. She also spent two years working as a Public Affairs/Communications Officer for World Vision, a global relief, development and advocacy organisation in various locations within Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Ruth has also been employed as a casual academic (teacher) within the Communications Faculty of University of Newcastle.

  • Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice 

  • Bachelor of Law (Honours Class I) 

  • Bachelor of Communication (Major in public relations) 

  • Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, College of Law Sydney 

  • Admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW 

  • Registered as a Practitioner in the High Court of Australia
